Atlanta radio legend Silas "SiMan Baby" Alexander had been battling pancreatic cancer since last June and according to friend of nearly 40 years Joyce Littel, "this morning God saw fit to bring him home." He was 57 years old.
SiMan's Family Announces His Death

Alexander had shared his journey on social media and in interviews talking about health and wellness, pushing the importance of getting tested for what is often called "the silent killer". "SiMan Baby", his radio handle for many years, had recently started the "Cousins with Cancer" podcast with Gary "MixMasterMitch" Mitchell who succumbed to the same disease in December.
According to Littel, "We met back in Athens when we both worked at WXAG for (now DeKalb County CEO) Michael Thurmond." Littel currently is Brand Manager for News and Talk 1380 WAOK and longtime host of "The Quiet Storm with Joyce Littel" on Atlanta radio station V103. "The very first day he (Alexander) came into the radio station we hit it off. We'd been friends, colleagues, and big sister-little brother ever since."
Alexander's broadcast career started while in high school at radio station WXPQ in Eatonton, Georgia, his hometown. He would also work in Milledgeville and Macon before landing in Atlanta in 1988. WIGO 1340 AM, KISS 104, V103, and Radio One are where Alexander spent a combined almost 30 years on the Atlanta airwaves.
Littel says SiMan will be remembered for his kindness. "He was always willing to do whatever he could for anybody." She adds "whoever encountered him, be it on the radio, at one of the clubs, making a personal appearance somewhere, he was a very kind person. He had a great spirit and wanted the best for everybody."
Alexander and his wife of 29 years Sandra have a son Silus "Lex" Alexander, IV. Littel asks that everyone pray for the family. "I know that they will keep his legacy alive for many years because of the type of man, husband, and father that he was."
