The one thing the Braves are looking for from Vaughn Grissom in Spring Training

Atlanta Braves Spring Training is underway and while there are a few questions the team has to answer before the season opener, one of the bigger ones to address is whether Vaughn Grissom will be day one replacement for Dansby Swanson.

92.9 The Game Atlanta Braves Insider Grant McAuley joined John and Hugh from down in Florida at Braves Spring Training and explained what the Braves need to see from Vaughn Grissom for him to grab the opening day shortstop role.

"Consistency. They do think a lot of Vaughn Grissom and there's an undeniable talent there, but not it's not just getting here, but staying here," says McAuley. "If he can consistently field that position and give the Braves quality at-bats, even if the results aren't coming up, this is a kid that could make an impact. He doesn't have to be THE guy for this team, they've got about 6 guys in this lineup that can carry a lot of the weight when it comes to scoring runs, he just needs to be a consistent shortstop and that will allow him to grow into the position."

Grissom got off to a great start when he debuted for the Braves last season, hitting .347 in his first 26 games for the team, but he hit just .174 in his final 15 games of the year with none of the 8 hits in that stretch being home runs.
