Just a mere 4 seasons ago, the Atlanta Hawks were sitting on the couch after finishing at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. Travis Schlenk had finished his first season as General Manager and he tore this team up like he was flipping a house on HGTV. What he has put together in such a short period of time is nothing short of spectacular. Nick Kayal broke it all down.
The Hawks are two wins away from playing in an NBA Finals. Travis Schlenk has performed at a masterclass level assembling this roster and certainly a lot better than the sixth place finish for executive of the year would seem to signify.
He did it by utilizing every possible avenue. He killed the draft, he made astute moves in Free Agency, and he was crafty in his trade negotiations.
Now all of a sudden, the Hawks are a tempting location, regardless of how this series finishes up. As a Hawks fan, you cannot help but be excited. All of that starts with the job of this savvy front office and Travis Schlenk.
