Does Vaughn Grissom’s arrival give Braves leverage in negotiations with Dansby Swanson?

On Thursday Andy Bunker and Randy McMichael talked about the major league debut of Atlanta Braves prospect Vaughn Grissom.

Due to injuries and need Grissom made his debut in the Braves 8-4 win over the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night. Grissom went 2-4 with a homerun, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored and a stolen base.

Andy & Randy emphasized during Thursday’s show that it is only one game so far for Grissom and there is still plenty to see and be determined but with Dansby Swanson’s free agency looming this off-season Grissom may give the Braves an option to fall back on if they can’t come to an agreement with Swanson.

While Grissom batted 9th and played 2nd base in his debut he is primarily a shortstop and potentially projects as a shortstop moving forward in the big leagues.

Hopefully Grissom can continue his strong play and give themselves leverage when it comes to contract negotiations with Swanson this summer.
