Vintage Charlie Morton could be just what the Braves need

The Braves got just what they needed from their offense after taking down the Texas Rangers 12-0. More important than the offensive explosion, however, was the dominant performance by Charlie Morton. Morton had his best performance of the season, striking out 10 and allowing just one walk over 6 2/3 innings.

“Charlie Morton was dealing, everything was rolling. It’s an unbeatable squad when everything works like it did last night,” Mike Bell proclaimed.

The club will need Morton to retain this form as they await the return of Max Fried and Kyle Wright from the IL. If he can keep this pace it will provide much-needed length to a weakened starting rotation which now features Spencer Strider, Bryce Elder and Morton as the three mainstays. Jared Shuster and Dylan Dodd will get their shot to add to the back-end of the rotation as well.
