The page has turned for the Atlanta Falcons as they begin to prepare for the Miami Dolphins, who they will host on Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and look to get themselves back in the win column, however they will now have to do so with their wide receiver room down a man as they announced on Tuesday they released of Ray Ray McCloud.
“Some things don’t add up, some things do, this doesn’t,” 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes said as he and cohost Mike Bell reacted to news of McCloud’s release from the Falcons, which they agreed was a surprising move made by Atlanta they classified as “weird”.
McCloud last suited up for the Falcons in Week 4 in their win over the Washington Commanders, however was only targeted twice and finished with -7 receiving yards. The following week, McCloud was listed a healthy scratch for Atlanta’s Monday Night Football matchup against the Bills despite not being included on the injury report in the days leading up to it.
“We’re not talking about a 40-year old Ray Ray McCloud. He’s 29, he’s in the prime of his career, he can still play,” Dukes said as he shared his concern the impact McCloud’s release may have on the Falcons wide receiver core. “For us, under the circumstances of where our team has been, he technically was the number three wide out,” Dukes said.
“This kind of has us scratching our head,” Dukes said as he and Bell discussed the Falcons decision on McCloud being one of confusion.
