92.9 The Game Braves insider Grant McAuley joined Dukes & Bell for his normal appearance to talk some Braves with the guys and talked about the season Kyle Wright has had so far for the Braves and will the team place an innings limit on Wright?
When asked if the team might limit Wright’s usage.
“If he was a younger pitcher, if we were talking about Ian Anderson particularly last year then I would kinda wonder what an innings limit might look like for him. It doesn’t mean they might not find a time or two to maybe get him a couple extra days rest or maybe skip a start here or there particularly if you have arms that you feel like can step in,” McAuley said. “We’re talking about a young pitcher who has been a top prospect who has multiple full seasons worth of development in the minor leagues, at this point he is who he is. I feel like even though he only came into the year with fourteen big league starts man how long have we been talking about Kyle Wright, four or five years, I don’t really see them dialing it back.”
McAuley said that Wright has been the Braves second best starting pitcher this season.
“What he’s found and what he’s given them I find it even harder to do that if you don’t have to, you manage the workload the best you can, and you give guys the opportunity every fifth day to give what they can and Kyle Wright’s done as good a job as anybody on the Braves staff not named Max Fried.”
