Younghoe Koo isn’t the only reason the Atlanta Falcons lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers yesterday, but he is a big reason the Falcons lost, and he’s probably the biggest reason they lost. Koo struggles from last season have seemed to carry over into this season. Younghoe nearly missed an extra point earlier in the game, but it hit off an upright and went in.
There’s no sugarcoating that Koo’s inconsistency has become a real issue for the Atlanta and it needs to be addressed, but earlier today The Morning Shift explained why backup kicker Lenny Krieg isn't the answer.
“We all watched Lenny Krieg during training camp practices, and it wasn’t good. I know that a lot of people focus on that 57-yard field goal and that was fine, he also missed like a 50-yard field goal in that game, and we watched him during training camp practices, not good, there were days where he was like two of five, so don’t go back and say why didn’t Krieg win the battle, dude it wasn’t even close, like at no point was that a close position battle in the way that was approached, so I think we can stop right there with the Lenny Krieg talk. I think it has to be addressed for sure, but that’s not the answer for me.” Mike Johnson said
The Falcons could very well decide to stick with Koo, but if they don’t they probably will pull in another kicker from the free agent market, and not look to Lenny Krieg to be the guy.
