Braves off to best 35-game start in Atlants franchise history

“The Braves are on fire,” 92-9 The Game’s Mike Bell said on Monday as he and cohost Carl Dukes shared thoughts on the Atlanta Braves wrapping up their weekend with a three-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies which included and come from behind win on Friday and an 11 strike out performance by Chris Sale.

“Everybody’s raking. [Ronald] Acuna Jr. is on the IL now, Riley still hasn’t hit a lick and you have the best team in baseball,” Bell said, noting the that despite the recent injury to Acuna Jr. and the lack of production from Riley, Atlanta at 25-10, is off to their best 35 game start in Atlanta franchise history.

“Yeah, it’s impressive,” Dukes said in aggrievance with Bell, explaining why he believes the Braves’ success is largely in part to unexpected contributions from some unlikely heroes. “A bunch of guys are doing things that you didn’t expect them to do,” highlighting the recent performance of Jonah Heim, who had five RBIs on two hits in Sunday’s win.
