Braves suffer significant hit to lineup
As the Atlanta Braves look to remain the best team in baseball, unfortunately will have to do so without catcher, Drake Baldwin, who they announced would be placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained right oblique muscle. “Nobody saw this coming,” 92-9 The Game’s Braves Insider, Grant McAuley, said as he joined Mike Bell and Abe Gordon to discuss the impact of Baldwin’s injury.
“This hit everybody out of left field, no pun intended, this morning when that news came because you had a lot of expected news,” McAuley continued as he explained how the timing of Baldwin’s injury was not ideal due to the fact the Braves were “expected” to make some planned roster changes, including optioning JR Ritchie to Triple-A Gwinnett and releasing Aaron Bummer.
“This Drake Baldwin injury, it really complicates matters for a Braves club that’s been trying to navigate through a lot of injuries here in the first six to eight weeks of the season,” McAuley said of Baldwin’s injury and it may potentially affect the Braves roster decisions while the 2025 National League Rookie of the Year is sidelined.
