Falcons extending Drake London a priority, but team focused on what's immediately in front of them
While things may have slowed down some for the Atlanta Falcons in regards to free agency signings, on Monday, while speaking at the NFL Owners’ meeting in Arizona, general manager, Ian Cunningham explained the team is still “focused on this wave of free agency,” as they continue to build their roster ahead of the 2026 season.
And while knowing the new Falcons front office executive is intentional on adding quality players to the roster, the status of a contract extension for wide receiver, Drake London, has been one of the more looming questions and Cunningham addressed it on Monday stating that extensions for London and Bijan Robinson are “top of mind” however, "We don't want outside factors to push us into feeling like we have to make a decision right now," Cunningham said of their intent of extending London and Robinson, however not focusing on it at the current moment.
“Why would you be,” 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes asked as he and cohost, Mike Bell reacted to the statement from Cunningham, explaining why he understands the thought process of the Atlanta general manager. “You’ve got three weeks until the draft, you still need to get players out of this draft Mike. You have these guys on your team, they’re currently under contract, then worry about the extension,” Dukes said, acknowledging his agreement with Cunningham’s approach to London and Robinson.
“That’s why I always say, I think when we get into camp or right before it, that is when I think those things will potentially go down and apparently it is something the Falcons are talking about,” Dukes said.Falcons keeping Drake London extension top of mind, but not the immediate priority
