After the Atlanta Hawks’ 108-105 home loss to the New York Knicks last night the ongoing conversation about who the Hawks “closer” is came back into the forefront, and earlier today The Morning Shift explained why Jalen Johnson is undoubtedly Atlanta’s closer.
“The ball has to go through Jalen Johnson. He is your superstar. He’s your 23, 10, and 8 guy every single night, and to me that’s where the ball goes.” Beau Morgan said
Jalen Johnson, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, and CJ McCollum are all great scoring options for the Hawks in the final moments of a game, but Jalen is that guy for Atlanta and even if he doesn’t get the final shot the ball needs to be in his hands to allow him to make the right play whether that’s scoring himself or finding one of his great teammates.
