Braves haven't skipped a beat with Matt Olson
While the Atlanta Braves opened their three-game series with the Seattle Mariners with a 5-4 loss, however still left them with the best record in baseball as they dropped to 25-11. And while Atlanta was able to sleep knowing they are still currently the best team in MLB, complimented with one of the league’s top first basemen, who may be even better than the one he replaced.
“Can we admit that Matt Olson is as good or better Freddie [Freeman],” 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes asked as he and Mike Bell discussed Olson and how well he has played “on the field” since coming over to the Braves and hitting his 300th career home run in Monday’s loss. “I’m watching this game last night and I’m like, Olson has just been money,” Dukes said of the first baseman.
“Look, we all loved Freddie [Freeman], but I have to take that out of this and just go Matt Olson, put him at first base and if you closed your eyes and I showed you these numbers since he got here, you wouldn’t be able to tell me if it was Freddie Freeman or if it was Matt Olson. I think Mike, we have to admit that,” Dukes said as he explained why he believes Olson has been just as good for the Braves as Freeman was.Matt Olson deserves more credit for filling the Freddie Freeman void
