Zachariah Branch only rookie that’ll directly impact Falcons 2026 success

WR Zachariah Branch #1 of the Georgia Bulldogs gestures a first down during the College Football Playoff Quarterfinal game between the Ole Miss Rebels and the Georgia Bulldogs on Thursday January 1, 2026 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, LA.

Zachariah Branch shouldn't be compared to former Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel

It’s safe to say that barring any injuries both wide receiver Zachariah Branch and cornerback Avieon Terrell will be week one starters in some way, shape, or form, but earlier today The Morning Shift explained why they think Branch is the only rookie that’ll directly impact the Falcons success next season.

“Zachariah Branch is a guy that we don't have. We just don’t have him. You can say he’s gonna be an All-Pro, or you can say he’s gonna be a bust. The bottom line is we don’t have that guy. We don’t have the short area burst, the quickness, the acceleration that he brings to the table.” Mike Johnson said

Mike finished his thought by saying “Zachariah Branch had he been on this team last year would’ve made an impact. We just simply don’t have that guy. Avieon Terrell as good as I think he is and as impactful as I think he’s gonna be. There are other very qualified players that can play DB in a pinch, but Zachariah Branch just doesn’t exist. He is the reason that you started putting Bijan Robinson out in the slot so much last year because you just don’t have that guy.”

Avieon Terrell will be impactful and will be a good addition for the Falcons, but as Mike said the Falcons haven’t had a player that can do the things that Branch can do and can fill the role that the former Georgia Bulldog will fill in a while, so Branch’s impact will be felt and needed immediately if the Falcons are going to be competitive this season.
