The Milwaukee Bucks shook up the Eastern Conference on Wednesday, acquiring seven-time All-Star Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers in a blockbuster three-team trade that involves eight players and multiple draft picks.
Lillard now teams up with Giannis Antetokounmpo to give the Bucks one of the most exciting and talented duos in the NBA. But does the deal make them better than the Boston Celtics?
Jones & Mego with Arcand reacted to the news as it broke. Meghan Ottolini didn't want the Celtics to trade for Lillard, but hates that he ended up in Milwaukee.
"I don’t think that he was a solution for Boston," she said. "I wasn’t very threatened by him going to Miami. But the Bucks are already a very good roster. I understand they had an earlier exit last year. I think he’s a very good fit for them. I don’t think he was a fit for you [the Celtics]. I think he’s potentially a really good fit for them."
Adam Jones did want Lillard in Boston, and thinks the C's should be "afraid" after seeing him go to their biggest Eastern Conference challenger instead.
"He’s awesome. He would’ve fit anywhere," Jones said. "You didn’t get him. You let him go to Milwaukee. And now instead of having a wide-open championship window, to Mego’s point – we just talked about that ESPN survey yesterday. You’re the favorites! Executives in the league said you’re the team, the time is now. Is it still now? Now that Damian Lillard is a Buck… I am afraid of it. The Celtics should be afraid of this."
Jones and Christian Arcand both said they believe the Bucks are now better than the Celtics, while Mego still gives Boston a slight edge.
