Atlanta City Council Honors Sheriff Melody Maddox

In honor of Women's History Month, Atlanta City Council President Felicia Moore presented DeKalb County Sheriff Melody Maddox with a Proclamation.

Maddox is the first female Sheriff of DeKalb County, Georgia's third-largest county, and although most of the City of Atlanta is in Fulton County, a significant portion of the City is located in DeKalb County.

During the ceremony, Moore said," It is truly an honor to recognize advancements in law enforcement, and let's continue to acknowledge progress during Women's History Month." V103/WAOK News and Public Affairs Director Maria Boynton spoke during the presentation, saying of Maddox, who started her career with the Atlanta Police Department," She pays homage to those who instilled the values of law enforcement, those who taught her integrity, ethics, and good moral standards."

It was a standing-room-only ceremony that included DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond and several members of Maddox's department.

Sheriff Melody Maddox is a twenty-eight year veteran and the 50th Sheriff of DeKalb County, Georgia.
