Audacy Atlanta will be the site for a celebration to honor the Atlanta members of “Black Women in Radio’s (BWIR) Inaugural 30” on Sunday, October 1 at Colony Square.

Joyce Littel, Brand Manager for WAOK, and Angela Greene, Executive Producer of On Point with Juandolyn Stokes will serve as the hosts for this event.

“This event was born out of necessity. When we had the BWIR plaques sent to the Library of Congress for our inauguration ceremony in April they were delayed by security. The plaques were just returned to us about a month ago. Hence, out-of- state recipients will have their plaques mailed, but we decided to do something special for the local recipients,” said Greene, who also serves as the Executive Director of Media Affairs and Public Relations for BWIR.

This occasion is also special because several significant guests have been invited to share this experience including Atlanta City Councilman Michael J. Bond, Chris and LaShonda Hartley of Exclusive Engravings, who graciously donated the plaques to BWIR, and an Atlanta University Center Robert W. Woodruff library staff member.

“Two years ago, when I presented my research progress to the Atlanta University Center’s Robert W. Woodruff Library Director Loretta Parham I was met with great enthusiasm. She recognized the potential impact the project could have in American history and agreed to become the official repository for the [BWIR] collection. I am appreciative of the enthusiasm, guidance, and support of Parham and her staff,” said Love.

“I am especially excited to be a host for this event. I missed the inauguration in D.C. because I was recovering from knee surgery, but I will definitely be in-person to receive my award for this,” said Littel.

The complete list of Atlanta members of the “Black Women in Radio Inaugural 30” include: Rashan Ali, Carol Blackmon, Cortney Hicks, Angela Greene, Joyce Littel, Felesha Love, Michelle Meeks, Rene Miller, Sasha the Diva, and Egypt Sherrod.

BWIR sends a big thanks to Panera Bread Midtown location manager, Adriaona Vassar who provided food support for this occasion and Breakfast at Barney's.
