This week on, On Point with Juandolyn Stokes, Juandolyn was joined soul trumpeter Lin Rountree who was in town performing The Fluid Tour at St James Live. Rountree has been playing trumpet for over 40 years, which he says is a non-forgiving instrument that takes a lot of physical preparedness and lots and lots of practice.
He classifies his style of music as instrumental R&B although he frequently gets lumped into jazz, in which "the jazz police are upset because they think you are devaluing the music, but if you call it instrumental R&B you are playing music with a groove, soul-base, and you are still playing improvisation..."
