Travel enthusiast Jameelah Bollar joined The Turners to discuss her passion for exploring both domestic and international destinations.
Her journey began in Atlanta, where she grew up in a family of six children immersed in the sport of swimming. “I grew up on the city of Atlanta's Atlanta Dolphins swim team,” she said. “With that came road trips to the various citywide swim meets and actually national swim meets as well for competitions. It was then that I was able to travel with the swim teams, with the competitions, and travel all over the South.”
Her early experiences on the road fueled a lifelong passion for exploration. She also recounted her first solo international trip during college, which solidified her interest in traveling abroad. “I visited London, the United Kingdom and England. I didn’t know anyone on the trip that went with the group. Everyone was new to me, but it was the best experience I’ve had to this date by myself,” she said.
Since then, she has traveled extensively, often with her husband and children. Domestically, she enjoys Florida’s Miramar Beach and New York City, while internationally, her family has visited Jamaica, Australia, and Greece, among other destinations.
She emphasized that travel is not only a personal passion but also a way to reconnect with family. She and her husband, married in 2012, use travel as a “reset button” for their household. “We have to get away. We have to reconnect. We have to live and enjoy life. It is what sets us up for our successes in our household,” She explained.
