You would have to have been hiding under a rock to not see the face or hear the voice of Essence Johnson this election season. Johnson is Chairwoman of the Cobb County Democrats and Vice-President of Operations at Intellectual Concepts (IC), a family-owned business specializing in technical assistance, monitoring, and evaluations.
“Our firm believes in impacting the quality of life and communities through transit, and mobility, and environmental and public health,” said Johnson.
Moreover, she has acknowledged the wide-reaching positive impact brought forth by the Biden/Harris administration on their bipartisan environmental justice infrastructure bill.
She ran for office in Cobb County in 2018 as she wanted to align her quality of life with her political aspirations, she says.
She continues to be a liaison and a mouthpiece championing the behind Democratic ticket, along with local elections, she added.
It was Johnson who had the privilege of escorting President Biden into the Waffle House after his debate in Atlanta last summer.
“His policies and plans, not a concept has directly impacted every one of our lives,” said Johnson.
She recounted the whirlwind of calls she received after learning that Biden was dropping out of the race. At one time she was receiving 10-20 calls a day regularly to up 600 calls after Biden’s announcement.
“When you plan a presidential election, you have time to plan. She [Vice President Harris] had to ramp up right away. I am confident she will win. This will be a close race with both candidates trending neck in neck,” she said.
Johnson comes from a family of college graduates who are doing meaningful work.
“We are building a foundation in America. I’ve got to make a brighter future for my child. I am a compassionate lover of people, ideas, innovation, and a person of faith who wants to build a lasting impact,” added Johnson
