Most people can’t recall anything happy about the pandemic of 2020, but that is not the case for Vanessa Bouie, Founder of Fancy Homebody, a popular brand of stylish loungewear for women who want to feel confident and put-together. Bouie calls her motivation to launch Fancy Homebody a “happy accident.”

Fancy Homebody was launched in February 2020, but the inspiration for the brand began the year before when Bouie was working from home as a pharmaceutical sales representative.

Bouie says she was losing her sense of self, working from home as mother of two young children and a wife. She was looking for a creative outlet when she started branding t-shirts, sweatshirts, and mugs and using a drop ship service to deliver her creations to her eager Instagram supporters.

Oftentimes, when women, particularly Black women purchase clothing items online, they don’t always fit properly. Bouie says realized not everyone has an hourglass figure and a flat tummy. Therefore, she sought after women like herself in their 30s who wanted to feel good, not frumpy.

“I want to celebrate the regular, “degular girl,” said Bouie.

Four years ago, Bouie was using her dining room as a storehouse for her products. Now she has a 7,000 square foot office space, complete with a staff. The growth of her sales and products has been strictly “organic with no press, and very little ads,” she said.

Bouie merged her personal passion for fashion and design with her desire to create something others could also enjoy and created a successful business during the pandemic, which continues to thrive today.

While the fancy homebody merchandise might remind you of other popular brands by celebrities, Bouie insists the difference is that she is “not a famous person; I’m a regular woman,” she said.

For the record, Bouie models her merchandise for shoots, and she just proudly celebrated fulfilling her 100,000 order! To place your order visit: www.fancyhomebody.com
