I kinda' enjoy saving around ten thousand bucks…how 'bout you?

Well, the folks at KIA thought you'd enjoy it, too, so they "muscled-up" their new K5 sedan and gave it a 2.5 liter turbo with 290 HP, an 8-speed dual clutch, 19" alloys with performance brakes, sport suspension, quad exhausts, paddle shifters, heated seats, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging…and more.

And they priced it just a hair over thirty thousand.

That's genuine sports sedan stuff at an economy car price...roughly ten thousand less than some well-known German sport sedans, in fact.

And speaking of genuine sports sedans, the folks over at www.TheDrive.com put KIA's new K5 GT up against BMW's 330i.

Who won?

They said the K5 GT won.   Not only in straight line acceleration, but in terms of handling, too.   That's calling a front drive sedan a better performance machine than a rear-drive icon.   Quite an achievement.

For a relatively new model, KIA has already come out with a number of versions of their K5.

We got to test a rather basic entry-level K5 a few months ago and thought it offered surprising value for its mid-twenty's price.

Then KIA brought over its K5 GT-Line AWD for us to test.   Only $31,300…and a number of folks thought it might be a Lexus.   Now that's sayin' something.

So what all does KIA's K5 GT add to their already well-equipped "K5 GT-Line"?

In addition to all the performance pieces mentioned above, our test K5 GT had a GT1 package that delivered a few additional luxury and safety features like Bose premium audio, a 10.25" touch screen, memory seats and mirrors, vented front seats with power lumbar, a heated steering wheel, smart cruise, forward collision assist with bicyclist alert, and parking assist…all for an additional $4,000.

All in, our KIA K5 GT window-stickered at $35,705…including transportation…and was EPA rated at 24 city and 32 HWY MPGs.

Need more?

Well hang on…literally…'cause KIA has this thing called a "Stinger"…but that's another story for another day.

For today, though, KIA continues their tradition of offering "more for less" with their K5 GT…bringing those of us who love to drive roughly 45K worth of performance, technology and luxury for roughly ten thousand less than those guys over in Europe.
