Missing 1yr Old Girl Found Safe; 14 Year Old Suspect In Custody

DeKalb County Police say 1 year old Royalty Grisby was found safe, unharmed, and now is with her mother.

According to police, a passerby saw someone placing the baby on a porch off Stoneleigh Hill Road and alerted the homeowner. The 14year old kidnapping suspect, Malachi Richardson is currently in custody and will be charged with kidnapping and theft by taking a motor vehicle.

Little Royalty Grisby was taken Thursday morning when her mother, making a delivery for DoorDash, stepped away from the vehicle. It was at that time when Richardson jumped into the vehicle and drove away.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. Thursday morning at a home on Harvest Dale Court in Stone Mountain.

DeKalb County Police Chief Mirtha Ramos said during a late morning news conference that, while the vehicle, a 2010 maroon Nissan Armada, had been found,

the suspect and the little girl remained missing.

It was announced a short time later that Richardson had been taken into custody.

According to Ramos, "every moment that Royalty is not with her mother is critical to us."

Authorities say they believe the food order was a fake.
