This week on, OPWJS School Days, Juandolyn was joined by Leslie Lipson of Lipson Advocacy and Marlyn Tillman, Co-Founder of Gwinnett STOPP, both are advocates against the school to prison pipeline.

The guest discussed a case in Cobb County, which is part of a larger trend of pressing criminal charges against students with disabilities. In this case, a middle school student with autism had felony charges pressed against him without his parents knowledge because of flagrant zero tolerance practices. The charges came as a result of terroristic threats made by the student, which were unlikely to be executed.

In fact, this harsh punishment is a direct result of the students disability, which is illegal in Georgia. This case, like many others violate  several of the students rights including his civil rights and a right to an education.
