A major topic of discussion was Representative Scott's work addressing issues with Homeowners Associations (HOAs) in Georgia. She explained that many homeowners across the state are at risk of losing their homes due to unpaid fines, often related to small amounts like water bills or fees. Representative Scott emphasized the need for legislative action to protect homeowners from unfair HOA practices, particularly when individuals are keeping up with their mortgage and tax payments. She plans to introduce legislation in the upcoming session that would place limits on the powers of HOAs to seize homes over unpaid fees.

In addition to her work on housing issues, Representative Scott spoke about her leadership role as the national president of the Foundation of Women Legislators, a bipartisan organization dedicated to supporting women in government. She explained that the organization provides education, resources, and training to female lawmakers, helping them stay informed on both state and federal legislative matters. The foundation also creates opportunities for women in politics to connect and collaborate on key issues.

Representative Scott also discussed her efforts to address period poverty, a growing concern she has been working to combat. She is advocating for legislation that would allow individuals to use SNAP benefits to purchase feminine hygiene products, as well as for the removal of sales taxes on these essential items in Georgia. Representative Scott pointed out that many young girls miss school because they cannot afford necessary hygiene products, and she believes making them accessible to all women is critical for gender equity.

Looking ahead, Representative Scott highlighted her support for efforts to combat human trafficking. January, designated as National Human Trafficking Awareness Month, is a time when Representative Scott encourages communities across Georgia to participate in the Red Sand Project, a national initiative aimed at raising awareness about human trafficking. Representative Scott hopes the event will help spark local conversations and actions to combat this serious issue.

In the spirit of the holidays, Representative Scott shared that Christmas holds special meaning for her, especially due to her late mother's love for the season. This year, she has been organizing community events such as bingo games for seniors and children, with the goal of spreading holiday cheer to those in need. She expressed her commitment to giving back and spending time with her family during this festive season.
