Government and faith leaders from Gwinnett County will be among those participating in a forum tonight addressing violence in the metro Atlanta community. They'll be focused on the recent uptick in violence that has affected several schools in the district.
According to County Chairwoman Nicole Hendrickson "we want the public to know that we are going to be working together because the crime is not just a school problem, it's not just a county government's problem, it's not just a parents' problem, it's everyone's problem."
There have been incidents at several schools in Gwinnett, including a student being shot and killed near Norcross High. Five days before that incident, a 17 year old student at Shiloh High was arrested and charged after shots were fired at someone inside a car near that school. This week a student was cut by another student during a fight inside a bathroom at Grayson High.
The meeting starts at 7 tonight. It will be held at New Mercies Christian Church on Five Forks Trickum Road in Lilburn. The public is invited.
