We do our part in showcasing such people right here on News & Talk 1380 WAOK because the reality of highlighting good people doing good things isn't touched on enough in our community. As we move into May, Dr. Rashad and the WAOK Family had the opportunity of paying tribute to a great man and an organization that merits having the story of their journey told. Mr. Raymond Boyce, president and chief executive officer of the Raymond Boyce Foundation, one of the many active and helpful foundations here to support kids, mainly those with asthma and allergies, who lack the finances to adequately care for themselves.
Mr. Raymond Boyce had one of the worst instances of asthma a person can have, which made it difficult for him to attend even just 30 days of school. Despite the fact that this was a big brick wall for much of his life, he didn't let it deter him. He persisted in moving forward and pursued his goal of becoming a saxophone. The fact that he nearly died the first time he attempted inspired him to persevere. In order to actually help individuals throughout the world who are coping with such issues, he went on to become a professional saxophonist and traveled the world. He also established this foundation and wrote a book to tell the story!
