In a recent interview on Let’s Talk About It with the Turners, political strategist and entrepreneur Tharon Johnson offered insights into voter behavior, government accountability, and the importance of community engagement.

Mr. Johnson, founder and CEO of Paramount Consulting Group, a full-service bipartisan government affairs and communications firm based in Atlanta, has served in senior advisory roles for national, state, and local campaigns, including for President Barack Obama and the Biden-Harris campaign in Georgia.

Mr. Johnson reflected on the results of the November 4 elections, highlighting the impact of voter dissatisfaction and turnout. “While we can celebrate this victory, the momentum, great message, discipline from the campaign, the other side are more involved. They’re more emboldened and more fired up now coming into this election in May of next year, possibly June with a runoff and then definitely in November of next year,” Mr. Johnson said. He pointed to low voter turnout and ongoing concerns such as inflation, immigration, and affordability as factors influencing recent election outcomes.

The discussion also addressed how communities can respond to the ongoing federal government shutdown, which has affected thousands of federal employees, including TSA workers. Mr. Johnson emphasized practical ways for citizens to help, noting, “The first thing y’all are doing it, the fact that you all have taken out time on your busy Sunday…It’s an open forum where you guys are really raising awareness, but you’re also giving solutions.” He described initiatives such as providing gas cards to TSA employees and supporting furloughed workers to help ease financial burdens during the crisis.

In addition to current political dynamics, Mr. Johnson stressed the importance of focusing on issues rather than party allegiance or personality politics. He advised viewers to unite around community concerns such as utility bills, housing affordability, and access to healthcare, and emphasized that effective civic action requires continuous engagement beyond election days.

The conversation also highlighted Mr. Johnson’s personal commitment to public service and community values. Drawing from a recent church experience with his mother, he reflected on the broader importance of leadership rooted in service.
