Dr. Nikki Vars McCullough, a Respiratory Protection Expert for 3M’s Personal Safety Division was a guest on, On Point with Juandolyn Stokes this week to offer tips on keeping the air you breathe healthy with the threats from extreme heat and wildfire.
These threats can have a serious impact on the indoor and outdoor air quality. This summer’s wildfire smoke, which has traveled south from Canada has contributed to the poor air quality.
“Sometimes we can look at the sky and see that it’s hazy, which means it is unhealthy,” said McCullough.
Poor outdoor or indoor air quality can be thwarted by using the N95 respirator mask to help reduce exposure to airborne particles.
McCullough also suggests closing your windows and sealing your home to prevent outdoor particles from entering.
According to McCullough, you should also minimize burning candles, which also affects air quality.
