Beef Recipes are the Preferred Food for Tailgating Celebrations

Leading Female Pitmaster and The Food Network's "Master of the Cue," Erica Roby joined On Point with Juandolyn Stokes to share recipe ideas for tailgating as football season is upon us.

Roby wasn't always a Pitmaster. She started her career as an attorney, but quickly changed after she became a stay-at-home mom who was looking for something to do. She decided to fire up her old smoker and began to experiment with food.

As it happens, nothing defines a true sports fan more than the opportunity to tailgate, and according to the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, 73% of people prefer beef at a tailgate.

"Food needs to be portable and Beef Street Tacos are popular because they hit every single flavor," adds Roby.

Other fan favorites include Smoked Shepherd's Pie, Peach Cobbler or Brownie Mix Fondue, and Smoked Lemonade, Strawberry or Peach Non-Alcoholic Cocktails.

Mason jars are also important for tailgating meals because they offer portability and elevation. Potato chip bags are also excellent for repurposing.

What some may not realize is tailgating has its own food culture, and for serious tailgaters, they know how important it is to stay in front of the trend.
