On Point with Juandolyn Stokes welcomed Dr. Don Tynes Public Health Director and Chief Medical Officer of the City of Benton Harbor, Belinda Parker Brown CEO of Louisiana United International, and Dr. Annette Davis Jackson Advocate for Louisiana United International to discuss the legal issues that Black and Brown doctor’s face in the United States.

According to Brown, our government is using the criminal justice system to criminalize Black and Brown doctors who are targeted so they can gain a monopoly.

“Fix is in” when members of the legal system attorneys, judges, court personnel and others are conspiring to get convictions. She adds, doctors are under attack because the government wants to monopolize the medical industry.

“The attack has never stopped. In 1889, 2.7% of physicians were Black doctors.

In 1989, 2.6% of all physicians were minorities with 16% including women, and others like Alaskans and Puerto Ricans; it changed from Blacks to minorities,” said Tynes.

“The target is money,” said Jackson.

She added, “When doctors make too much money they are targeted.”

On Point with Juandolyn Stokes has covered the criminalization of Black and Brown doctors numerous times this year and sadly we keep hearing the same thing:

The attack on Black and Brown doctors directly affects our community because it diminishes the number of physicians of color to treat us.

“We tend to feel more comfortable and get better care when we have doctors who look like us,” said Brown.

According to Tynes, doctors have long been a voice to fight for people, but now we only have three types of doctors: insurance-owned, hospital-owned, and private practice and only those in private practice can speak without the permission of the CEO, COO, or CMO.
