In an effort to lessen the amount spent at the gas pump, the Georgia Legislature has voted to suspend the 29.1 cents gas tax until May 31st.

Triple-A spokesperson Montrae Waiters tells Audacy Atlanta's Maria Boynton there are ways motorists can get the most from what they pay at the pump which includes shopping around for gas prices.

Around metro Atlanta gas prices hit an all-time high of $4.33 last Friday. While crude oil prices have started to fall, prices at the pump are slower to drop. Triple-A explains that gas stations don't want to drop prices too rapidly and face an operating loss.

Georgia previously suspended its motor fuel taxes last year when a computer hacker caused the shutdown of a major pipeline that funnels fuel to most of the state.
