"Passed 27 years ago today, the Violence Against Women Act has stood for decades as a pillar of our essential mission to fight against domestic violence and sexual assault in Georgia and across the country. Still, today, too many Americans in too many places continue to suffer the pain and fear of abuse in their homes and in their communities. We can and must do more.

"Earlier this year, I was proud to join my House colleagues in passing the bipartisan, lifesaving VAWA reauthorization to address this stark reality and ensure the safety of survivors of domestic abuse, stalking and sexual assault for our most vulnerable, including immigrant, LGBTQ and Native American women and communities of color.

"Today, I call on Senate Republicans to support this significant stride towards a nation where all survivors – women, men and children – have the resources and support they need to seek justice, receive care and rebuild their lives. Together, we can ensure that every community is able to live free from violence and fear."
