Recently on The WAOK Morning Show, Atlanta Journal Constitution (AJC) senior news leader Alex Sanz discussed key findings from the latest survey, revealing a tight race between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

The political landscape in Georgia remains highly competitive as the 2024 presidential election approaches, according to recent polling data from the Atlanta Journal Constitution (AJC).

The AJC poll shows Trump at approximately 47% support, while Vice President Harris is closely trailing with 44%, well within the margin of error. This marks a significant shift from earlier polling in June, where Trump held a five-point lead over President Biden. Mr. Sanz noted that voter sentiment is solidifying, with fewer than 3% of respondents still undecided.

Mr. Sanz highlighted that enthusiasm for both candidates is evident among their supporters. Democrats, Republicans, and independents expressed excitement about their choices, although satisfaction levels among Democrats have improved since earlier in the summer. In June, many Democratic voters were open to considering alternative candidates, but now there is a greater confidence in Vice President Harris.

Young voters are another crucial demographic in the state. Mr. Sanz reported that Vice President Harris has made gains among voters under 30, nearly tying with Trump in this group. However, challenges remain in engaging Black voters and other core Democratic constituencies, who express some hesitance in fully supporting her.

Economic issues dominate voter concerns, with 43% identifying the economy, inflation, and cost of living as their top priorities. This focus on economic stability presents a significant challenge for both candidates, who must effectively address these pressing issues to resonate with voters.

As the election approaches, Mr. Sanz emphasized that both Trump and Vice President Harris need to solidify their support while reaching out to undecided and disengaged voters. With Georgia poised to play a pivotal role in the upcoming election, all eyes will be on this battleground state as candidates strategize to secure every vote.
