It was HBCU Heritage Day this week at the Georgia Capital where ten representatives from Georgia's Black colleges and universities gathered with governmental officials to recognize the impact of these historical institutions.

Clark Atlanta University President, Dr. George T. French shared his pride for the work that HBCUs contribute to the state of Georgia and it's economy.

"We are here celebrating HBCUs," French continued, "we add $1.3 billion to the state of Georgia."

Explaining that these institutions provide "several thousand" jobs, the CAU president believes that investing in these same universities is essential.

Along with French were representatives from Albany State University, Interdenominational Theological Center, Morehouse College, Morehouse School of Medicine, Fort Valley State University, Morris Brown College, Spelman College and Paine College.
