
McEachin engaged Juandolyn in some Sister Talk about Breast Cancer Awareness. She shares that the Susan G. Komen Foundation works with local hospitals throughout the year to offer screenings, and early detection for breast cancer for uninsured and underinsured women.
McEachin shares that Komen also provides resources to help women with treatments and funds to help pay their bills so they can stay in the continuum of care. She shares that 1 in 8 women are impacted breast cancer. McEachin goes on to say Black women are 45% more likely to develop breast cancer than White women.
McEachin says Komen participates in advocacy work on behalf of women in the political arena with bills and policies. She also believes in the importance to have genetic counseling to know your risk. McEachin says it is important to be a self-advocate.
