Recently on, OPWJS Sister Talk, Juandolyn was joined by Linda Mabhena, Founder and Managing Director of DLO Energy Resources Group based in S. Africa; it is minority-owned and was started in 2011 when more of the country moved to renewable energy. Before that, only half of S. Africa had access to electricity.

Mabhena was able to get access to assist the government with providing electricity to S. Africans. She says, no access to electricity leaves no room for the country to grow and causes rolling blackouts.


DLO Energy powers about 200,000 homes, and owns one of the largest windfarms in South Africa and in Africa. "Solar polar is a cheaper source of electricity because it is powered by the sun," which Africa has plenty of [due to its location.]

Mabhena says Climate Change is important  as the world moves toward global emissions. She adds, if we do not get a handle on climate change it could result in wars breaking because agriculture is directly affected.
