The Atlanta Falcons turned in an offensive performance to forget in their 16-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers — one that was as historically ugly as it was frustrating. Michael Penix threw four interceptions, while Baker Mayfield failed to complete a single pass. Both offenses struggled to move the ball through a downpour, and the Falcons even allowed two different Buccaneers running backs to set career highs in rushing yards. But the biggest difference wasn't quarterback play. It was how the two teams responded to the conditions. Tampa Bay adjusted its offensive approach, leaned into the running game and found a way to grind out a win. Atlanta, meanwhile, continued trying to force an offensive game plan that clearly wasn't working. And the results spoke for themselves.
Falcons biggest problem wasn't Penix; It was the game plan
