Kaleb McGary announces retirement ahead of 2026 season
With the 2026 NFL Draft approaching, the Atlanta Falcons have been preparing their strategy as they currently have just five, picks with none of them being in the first round, and on Wednesday it was reported that longtime offensive lineman, Kaleb McGary informed the team he is going to retire now.
“Kaleb McGary is retiring from the NFL which tells us one of two things, that injury was more severe and he wasn’t able to recover to the degree to get back to the kind of player he wanted to be,” 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes, said as he and cohost reacted to the news of McGary’s retirement. “So look, right tackle now,” Dukes said as he expressed why he believes the Falcons’ draft strategy may change with McGary’s retirement.
“When we needed yards on the ground, we ran behind Kaleb McGary,” Dukes continued as he explained why McGary’s importance to the Falcons’ run game could be reason why new general manager, Ian Cunningham, may be forced to change his approach to the draft, which takes place in a couple of weeks. “Maybe you take an offensive lineman hire than you expected to,” Dukes said. The Falcons currently will not pick until the second round with the 48th overall pick.Kaleb McGary announces his retirement ahead of 2026 season
