Atlanta Falcons radio analyst Dave Archer joined Dukes & Bell to help us preview the Falcons-Eagles game on Sunday, and is Falcons rookie offensive lineman Jalen Mayfield ready for the task of blocking a strong Philadelphia front four including perennial pro-bowler Fletcher Cox?

When asked if Jalen Mayfield will be up for the task of going against the Philly interior defensive line.

“That’s the sixty four thousand dollar question isn’t it? Whether the young kid is going to keep his pad level down, he got his pad level too high, there was a number of times in preseason where he played too high,” Archer said. “Sometimes you can get away with that at tackle because you’re a little more athletic, you got good feet on the outside, you’re playing a guy that’s maybe rushing you from distance where when you get in the interior now they’re right on you right away. So that pad level is the first indicator whether you’re going to win that battle or not, he’s gotta drop his pads, drop his weight, he’s a really strong built guy but he’s got to use that leverage, he got beat a few times, hopefully he learned from those experiences, that was why they played him in the preseason.”
