If Falcons re-sign Kyle Pitts he needs to play WR not TE

Last night in the Atlanta Falcons 29-28 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Tampa tight end Kyle Pitts showed another flash of his potential greatness that he has in him. Hauling in 11 receptions for 166 yards and three touchdowns Pitts is the fourth NFL tight end with 10-or-more catches, 150-or-more receiving yards and three-plus receiving touchdowns in a game, joining Shannon Sharpe (1996), Kellen Winslow (1983) and Todd Christensen (1983).

However, even though this was a great game from the former fourth overall pick he hasn’t produced like that consistently which is why the Falcons will still be left with the tough decision at the end of this season of whether or not to re-sign the free-agent to be who will be expensive to bring back, maybe too expensive for the numbers he’s put up in his four years with the Falcons.

After last night though, and what has been a pretty productive 2025 season for Kyle, earlier today The Morning Shift talked about under what circumstance they would be willing to have Pitts back in a Falcons uniform next season.

“He played phenomenal last night, to the point where we were talking about it off the air. If you want to re-sign him, let's re-sign him, but as a wide receiver.” Beau Morgan said

Less blocking and more route running at the end of the day is the key to fully unlocking Kyle Pitts’ potential, and if the Falcons can find a way to work with that, then maybe there’s a chance that the Kyle Pitts’ experience in Atlanta can continue on past this year.
