Time for Tyler Allgeier to become Falcons' workhorse back?

The Atlanta Falcons lost to the New Orleans Saints 21-18 in Desmond Ridder's debut, and while Ridder didn't exactly sparkle, another rookie, running back Tyler Allgeier, certainly did.

Allgeier ran for 139 yards and a touchdown in the loss, picking up multiple key third down conversions throughout the game. Now you have to wonder if he should be given a bigger responsibility in the backfield.

"This is the guy I thought would be the guy," said Falcons analyst Dave Archer. "He's slowly showing his ability to do it. There is a rhythm a running back gets into, and nobody understands that more than AS does.

"He's found the hot hand, Tyler (Allgeier) had that yesterday. The lights are going off in your heads, this guy can really be something and you stole somebody in the fifth round in Tyler Allgeier."

If the Falcons continue to feed Allgeier the majority of touches out of the backfield, he could have a chance to set a new franchise rookie rushing record.
