While the legal process is still playing out in regards to the recent arrest of Atlanta Falcons rookie, James Pearce Jr., his future with the franchise and in the NFL are being met with uncertainty, as expected, as the former first-round pick is facing several felony charges.
“I think the one that could be the most problematic for him is the aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer, Audacy Legal Insider, Amy Dash, said on Wednesday as she joined 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes and Mike Bell to provide some insight on the potential legal ramifications Pearce Jr. may be dealt as a result to his weekend arrest, noting the aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer charge being the one which complicate Pearce Jr.’s situation the most.
“Whenever there is an acquisition of a crime against a law enforcement officer, the penalties are purposely meant to be extreme and that’s to detour anybody form attacking a law enforcement officer in any way,” Dash said. “Just on that felony charge alone, if he were to be convicted, it’s a first-degree felony and punishable by up to 30 years in prison. It also has a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison,” Dash told Dukes and Bell of what Pearce Jr. is facing.
