Earlier today Atlanta Falcons Head Coach Kevin Stefanski joined The Morning Shift and gave an update on the health status of quarterback Michael Penix Jr., and revealed that Penix Jr. is “not cleared” for team drills just yet.

“No update. You know Mike continues to do awesome in his rehab. We will continue to progress with him on the grass like he’s been doing, he won’t be doing team drills just yet. When Mike is cleared by the medical team for team drills we’ll get to that point. We’re not there yet.” Stefanski said

During his post practice press conference Michael Penix Jr. told the media that doctors said it could be four weeks until he's fully cleared medically, but it's not a firm timeline and could happen sooner depending on how his body responds. Penix also said doctors have told him that he's ahead of where they expected him to be at this point.

With this latest news about the Falcons third year quarterback it’s starting to feel like Tua Tagovailoa may end up being the Falcons week one starter.
