Michael Penix Jr. not rushing process to be fully cleared
The Atlanta Falcons are midway through the second week of training camp and despite having yet to be cleared to be a full participant, Michael Penix Jr. maintains a positive attitude in regards to his recovery process to get ready for the start of the season.
“I feel really good, but at the same time there’s things the doctors know more than me,” Penix Jr. told 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes and Mike Bell, following Wednesday practice, explaining that while he feels physically ready to participate in all team activities, he must trust his doctors on when it will be the appropriate time to be fully cleared.
“You have to step back and say ‘ok, I don’t know as much as the doctor’ so I’m going to trust that and I’m just going to go out there and do whatever I can to make sure I get to the point that he says I’m 100 percent,” Penix Jr. said.
“The biggest thing right now is I have to make sure I’m non-contact so I don’t even want to be in a spot where I’m risking someone falling into me,” Penix Jr. said of why he has yet to participate in 11 on 11 drills.Michael Penix Jr. working towards clearance to be full participant in Falcons camp
