
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The so-called "Oscars of the restaurant industry" or the James Beard Awards, were served up Monday night in ceremonies at the Lyric Opera and local contenders did well.
Kevin Boehm and Rob Katz of Boka Group were winners of Outstanding Restaurateur. Boka is known for several acclaimed Chicago restaurants including Girl & the Goat.
Other Chicago wins included the restaurant called "Pacific Standard Time" in River North, which won for Outstanding Restaurant Design. Greg Wade of Chicago’s Publican Quality Bread won for Outstanding Baker. He had been nominated twice before for the award. The bakery provides bread to more than 50 Chicago restaurants.
Beverly Kim and Johnny Clark won for the Best Chef: Great Lakes category for their acclaimed Avondale restaurant, Parachute.
