CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The unsolved murders of 51 women in Chicago, most of whom were African American, has a community activist calling for more action from police and the city.
A small group of protesters gathered in the Nat King Cole Park at 85th and King on the South Side late Saturday morning to honor the 51 women and to ask why more isn’t being done to solve the crimes. Rabbi Michael Ben-Yosef organized the vigil.
Ben-Yosef and other community activists have demanded the Chicago Police and the FBI continue to step up efforts to solve the crimes and determine if a serial killer could be responsible for some of them.
Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said there’s no evidence that a serial killer was responsible for any of the killings, but he said the investigation continues.
