CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Aurora's third annual Pride Parade was canceled due to COVID-19, but a Pride Drive will take its place this Sunday.
"As a member of the LGBTQ community myself, with someone who has friends and loved ones who are as well, I just think it's something that needs to happen, and it wasn't taking place in Aurora before the 2018 parade and I think it's important to keep it going," said organizer Gwyn Ciesla.
Instead of packing the streets, supporters can pack their cars and visit 36 decorated locations throughout the city's east and west sides.
"Essentially, you'll drive along the route you're not really going to know where all the locations are and so every corner could be a new surprise," Ciesla said.
The Pride Drive route starts at Indian Trail and Star Grass Lane. A full map of the route is available at AuroraPride.org.
For those who can't make it in person, each location will be photographed for online display and people will be able to vote for their favorite decorations.
