(670 The Score) Undrafted tight end Jesper Horsted will get his chance to make an impression on the Bears down the stretch.
The Bears have promoted the 22-year-old Horsted from the practice squad to the active roster, they announced Wednesday. The move comes just days after the Bears placed starting tight end Trey Burton on the injured reserve list, which ended his regular season.
The Bears have struggled to get production out of the tight end position this season. Burton had 14 catches for 84 yards in eight games, and the only Bears tight end to produce a touchdown was Ben Braunecker in a win against the Lions on Nov. 10.
The 6-foot-3, 237-pound Horsted set records at Princeton with 196 career receptions and 28 receiving touchdowns. The Bears signed him in May after he had been a part of their rookie minicamp tryout earlier in the spring.
