(670 The Score) Bears defensive lineman Akiem Hicks has been ruled out against the Chiefs on Sunday, the team announced.
Hicks is dealing with a left elbow injury, which sidelined him for eight straight games before he returned to play in Chicago's 21-13 loss at Green Bay last Sunday. Hicks twice aggravated the injury against the Packers only to return to action.
Hicks being ruled out is the sensible move given that the Bears have been eliminated from playoff contention, but it contradicted what coach Matt Nagy indicated all week. On multiple occasions, Nagy told reporters that he expected Hicks to play Sunday.
Hicks has 10 tackles and a sack in five games this season. He earned Pro Bowl honors in his dominant 2018.
